Kathryn F. (Hawthorne) Maynard, 75 of Rutland, passed away peacefully in her sleep Thursday, May 27, 2021, after a valiant battle with several medical issues.

Kathyrn was born in Fitchburg, one of four children of Andrew J and Rita R. (Kittridge) Hawthorne. Raised in Lunenburg, she attended Lunenburg High School. Kathryn then began her life in healthcare, most recently as a Mental Health aide for the Worcester State Hospital before retiring. She built a life in Rutland where she has lived for over 40 years.

Kathryn is survived by her love and life’s partner, Dail H. Tong; three sons, Christopher Auger, of Southbridge, Wayne Auger in Massachusetts, and Thomas Tautenhan in North Dakota; two sisters, Sandra R. Coleman and JoAnne G. Jess and a brother Andrew Hawthorne III all of Fitchburg; two grandchildren, William “Willie” and Brittany Auger; her two pet dogs and best friends, Minnie and Pudgy; Nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Kathryn loved crafts; she found so much enjoyment sewing, crocheting, and knitting. With Dail she loved the times they spent watching mystery and detective movies, traveling to Florida and Disney World, gardening, and Sunday drives in New Hampshire.

Graveside funeral services will be held Thursday, June 3rd at 11 am in Worcester County Memorial Park, Richards Ave in Paxton. Please go directly to cemetery section Garden of Honor. The MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St is honored to assist the family with arrangements.
