Subscription Update Obituary

     Karl M. Washburn Sr., 80, of Fleming Island, Florida passed on to be with our Lord and Savior on Friday,October 5, 2018 after a courageous battle with Lung Cancer. He was born to the late Seldon Washburn and Hildur (Luthman) Washburn, January 21, 1938 in Worcester, Mass. Karl is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Anna (Johnson); loving children Karl Jr., Stephen (Linda) and Karla Germain (Brad); cherished grandchildren Jessica, Zachary, David, Amanda, and Joshua and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Seldon Jr., Donald and sister Carole. Karl worked for many years at Barry and Foley Motor Transportation in Worcester and was a member of Teamsters- local 170. Throughout his life, Karl was an avid Golf enthusiast and played in many local tournaments to include being a longstanding member of Clearview Country Club in Millbury, MA. He was also a member of Red Sox nation and equally a proud Patriots fan. Karl was an honorable and giving man for those he loved and his friends and family came to know in short order, that he could always be counted upon without condition or boundaries. Always quick with a wink and a cheerful smile, he lit a room with his arrival.

A graveside service and interment will be held Saturday, 20 October at the Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton, Mass. at 11:00 am, (Gospels Section) with Pastor Jarrett Allebach officiating. A previous service was held for Karl at the Russell Haven of Rest in Green Cove Springs, Florida on 13 October attended by Pastor JD Funyak, DDiv. The family would appreciate contributions be made in Karl’s memory to Grace Presbyterian Church, 22 Ormond St. Worcester, Mass. 01609.
