Karen A. Hippert, 68, of Webster was called home to God on March 30, 2021.

She was born in Worcester, Massachusetts on October 26 of 1952 to Donald and Wanda Hippert. She graduated from Becker College with her Associates Degree in Science. She retired from the Worcester Public School Department in 2013, where she worked as an administrative assistant in the Durkin Administration Building. Auntie Karen, as she was affectionately known, loved to travel and shop, which she did frequently.

Karen is survived by her life-long best friend, Catherine Shugrue, three God Children, Deirdre Legasey of Auburn, Cathrine Mary Shea of Ware, and Steven Glenboski of Holden. She is also leaving behind many nieces and nephews who will greatly miss her. She leaves behind her cousin Jason Drisco and his wife Christine along with their daughters Ayla and Kaylin, and Jason’s son Jonathon Gagnon, whom she adored immensely. She also leaves behind her cousin Joyce McDonald and her husband James. Karen is predeceased by her parents, Donald and Wanda Hippert as well as her bonus parents, James and Kathleen Shugrue.

Karen was known to be the QVC queen. She never spared a penny on gifting herself and others with the finest gifts. As much as she loved to shop, she loved to travel even more. There was not a trip Karen would say no too, especially if her best friend Cathie agreed to tag along. Together they traveled to Las Vegas, the Florida Keys, the Bahamas, Bermuda, and every local beach you could imagine. A day with Karen did not consist of just a trip, it was an adventure filled with enjoying the sun, the sand, and the best of fried foods. She adored every child she laid eyes on, especially Noah Legasey whom she spent almost every weekend with, as well as Ayla and Kaylin Drisco, and Kailani and Rayne Lopez. These littles lit up her life, more than they could ever realize.

There is so much more to say about Auntie Karen, but not enough days in the year to write it all. She will always be cherished and missed, especially by her friends and family. To know her, was to love her. We will always remember her unmistakable laugh and her favorite greeting, “Hey Honey!”

“I see your face wherever I go, guess I thought that you should know. Still hear your laugh, and see your smile though you’ve been gone awhile. I miss you more than words can say, wish that I’d been able to see you today.”

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00am on Monday, April 5 at Saint John’s Church, 44 Temple Street, Worcester. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Street, Paxton. Arrangements are in the care of Callahan, Fay and Caswell Life Celebration Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle Street, Worcester.
