June A. (Lawrence) Leahy, 69 passed away peaceably on May 29, 2018 at The Gardens of Trent in New Bern from complications of Alzheimer Disease, with her husband The Rev. John Leahy at her side. Besides her husband of 49 years, June leaves her daughter Heather, son-in-law Stefan, two grandchildren, Claire-Emily and Delilah Grace of Leopoldshafen Germany; her son Craig and his wife Tina of Worcester; her sisters Judy Chipman and Joan Crocker both of Florida and Jean Dellasanta of Worcester; several nieces and nephews and many dear friends.

June was born in Worcester on October 16, 1948 to Harold (Hank) and Ellen (Fyrberg) Lawrence. June is pre-deceased by her parents and her loving brother John (Jack) Lawrence.

June was a member of the first graduating class of Burncoat Senior High in 1966 and continued her education, earning an Associate degree from Quinsigamond Community College and a Bachelor of Science from Assumption College.

June began her career in the accounting department of Guarante Bank of Worcester. She then went to work for Glennon Griffin of Worcester. June then continued her career at Assumption College, where she served for almost 20 years, ultimately advancing to Director of Business Services. June always loved her work at the college and dealing with students in many and varied capacities.

In 2010 they retired to their home in New Bern, NC. New Bern was home but their love was traveling, especially to Germany. They also explored many places in Europe and Ireland. In 2014 they experienced the Camino de Santiago, beginning their pilgrimage on the French side of the Great Pyrenees and journeying across Spain towards Santiago.

June was a long time member of St. Michael’s on-the-Heights Church. In New Bern, June enjoyed time with her Sorority sisters of Beta Sigma Phi, Laureate Beta Chapter, tutoring for the Craven Literacy Council, and volunteering at the ENC Food Bank and at the Religious Community Services facility.

A Celebration of Life will be held on August 4, 2018 from 11-2 at Assumption College (Maison Building). Please join June’s family to share your memories of this remarkable woman.
