Judythe E. (Millett) Whitney, 78, of Thompson, CT passed away peacefully in her home while surrounded by her family on Tuesday, August 8, 2023.

She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Clifford D. Whitney; a son, David M. Whitney and his wife, Carrie of Thompson, CT; two daughters, Sheri W. Brinson of North Grosvenordale, CT and Wendi L. Carita and her husband, Eric of Thompson, CT; three sisters, Betty Adams of Wilbraham, MA, Patricia Joslyn of Worcester, MA and Mary Chubbuck of Oxford, MA; 7 grandchildren, Christian Carita, Jaylen Brinson, Emily Carita, Jonah Whitney, Madelyn Whitney, Kali Carita and Gianna Brinson and many nephews and nieces.

Judie was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Sherman and Anna (Kimball) Millett and is also predeceased by four brothers, Sherman Jr., Ronald, John and David Millett.

Judie attended and graduated from hairdressing school but later provided child care in her home for over 35 years before retiring. She had a nurturing love for the children that entered her home and was like a second mother to all of the children that she was fortunate enough to care for.

Judie was a talented crafter and especially loved to do anything that involved knitting, sewing or crocheting. She loved to travel to the Bahamas and was looking forward to her thirty second trip to Disney.

Judie always put her family above all else, she cherished the time that she was able to spend with her children and was so happy that she was able to take care of all seven of her grandchildren at some point. Her title of Nana to her grandchildren often extended to the friends of her grandchildren that also referred to her as Dance Nana.

A funeral service will be held on August 11 at 11:00 AM in the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. Worcester. Calling hours will be held from 9:30 to 11:00 in the funeral home prior to the service. Burial will take place privately in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Memorial contributions in memory of Judie may made to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
