Judith “Judy” A. (Martel) Martello, 75 of Worcester and Cape Cod, unexpectedly left this world on Friday, July 1, 2016, to be with her many loved ones that predeceased her. Judy was the light of her husband Tony’s eyes, and brightened every room she entered.

She is survived by her loving husband of nearly fifty-six years, Anthony T. Martello; two sisters, Joan A. Swenson of Holden and Sandra E. Flibbert of Worcester; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. She was born in Worcester on October 13, 1940, daughter of the late Amie and Ann (Sage) Martel, and graduated from Ascension High School in 1958. She later attended Ward Business School, where she met and was swept off her feet by her love, Tony. They married on Saturday, September 24, 1960.

Judy started a long career as an auditor with Paul Revere Life Insurance Company in Worcester, she stayed with the company through several managerial transitions starting from Paul Revere to Provident, finally retiring from Unum. She loved to travel and was fortunate to visit Australia, Italy, Aruba, and many locations in the United States; but her favorite was going to Cape Cod with “The Girls”.

Judy was a supporter of many causes, including Camp Putnam, The National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and The Wounded Warrior Project; with Saint Jude Children’s Hospital and The Animal Rescue League being her most cherished charities. She loved animals, and Argos and Bruno were the most recent recipients of her affection.

Calling Hours will be held on Tuesday, July 5, from 9 a.m. until the beginning of her Funeral Service at 10:30 a.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Interment will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Saint Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 Saint Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
