Subscription Update Obituary

Joyce R. (Provost) Riopel, 95 of Worcester, passed away on Tuesday, October 24th in St. Vincent Hospital with her family by her side. She leaves three sons, John Riopel and his wife, Heather of Paxton, Paul Riopel of Worcester, and Mark Riopel of Webster; two daughters, Mary Thibeault and her husband, Dean of Oakham and Diane Riopel of Fitchburg; a granddaughter, Britni Riopel; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, James “Jim” Riopel in 2021; three brothers, John Provost, Robert Provost and Russell Provost; and two sisters, Jane Ingalls and Helen Lindberg.

She was born in York, PA the daughter of James and Mary Helen (Amiot) Provost. At the age of 14 she started working as a nurse’s aide in Memorial Hospital and worked in the children’s ward until she married at 27 years of age. Joyce was a homemaker for the past 68 years and a loving mother who cared for her children. Being a mother was her number one priority. She was a devout member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church. She was a Eucharistic minister, and served in the woman’s group. She traveled with various groups at the church when they provided events and enjoyed playing bingo and most importantly time with her family.

Her funeral is Saturday, October 28th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. Peter’s Church, 929 Main Street. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Visitation will be from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
