Subscription Update Obituary

     Joyce C. (Amidon) D’Ambra, 82, passed away Thursday, September 11, 2014. She leaves her beloved husband, Alfred A. D’Ambra, to whom she was married for 26 years. Joyce was born in Worcester, daughter of Dorothy (Vickstrom) and William H. Amidon. She was an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church. Joyce loved swimming and was a 20-year member of the Greendale YMCA. She also enjoyed camping and traveling. She retired from UMass Memorial Medical Center where she worked in telecommunications for 15 years.

In addition to her husband, Al, Joyce is survived by a son and six daughters, John “Jack” O’Leary and his wife Louise, Susan Beshaw, Pattie Peloquin and her husband Peter, Tina Marie McMannus and her husband Dean, Sherril Cote and her husband Robert, Cynthia Lane and her husband Charles, and Debra Young; a brother and a sister, Bruce Amidon and his wife Ruby, and Phyllis Benoit and her husband John; 19 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces & nephews. Joyce was preceded in death by two husbands, Francis J. O’Leary and Ronald A. Cote; a brother, William Amidon; and a grandson, Francis J. O’Leary.

Al and his family extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff on Unit 3 at Autumn Village for their loving care of Joyce.

Calling hours will be held at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St., on Monday, Sept. 15, from 6-8 pm. The funeral service will be held at Wesley United Methodist Church, 114 Main St., on Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 10 am. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association., 480 Pleasant St., Watertown MA 02472.
