Joseph Dominick Vatelle Sr., 88, died peacefully on Saturday, July1st in Sandwich, MA. He was born on June 18th, 1929 in Norwalk, CT.
He served as a motor foreman sergeant in the Army during the Korean War, 1950-1952 and in the Army Reserve until 1956.
In 1953, he married Gloria Stankevitch and together they had 2 sons, Joseph Jr. and David. For 26 years, Joseph worked as the maintenance supervisor for the Silver Hill Foundation in New Canaan, CT and thereafter retired to his home in Brimfield, MA. Since 1998, Joseph has been living with his lovely companion, Irene Cottone, in Largo, FL.
A unique soul, Joseph enjoyed watching classic movies, listening to the big bands, and dancing with Irene. He will be greatly missed.
Joseph is survived by his sons, their spouses: Virginia and Sherrie and his grandchildren: Caroline (Bishop), Brian, Dominick, Sophia and Gina.
A memorial service will be held at the Worcester Memorial Cemetery in Paxton, MA on July 21st at 11:00 am.
