Subscription Update Obituary

Joseph W. Kozminski, 86, of Highland Park Road died on Monday, June 20, 2011 in the Hermitage-Golden Living Center, Worcester. He was born in Worcester, March 3, 1925, the son of William J. and Mary (Duszak) Kozminski. He was raised in the Crompton Park area of Worcester and attended Worcester Public Schools. He was a Boy Scout and a Sea Scout and has lived in Rutland since 1950.

He proudly served his country and was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II, serving as a Seabee in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre where he was awarded a bronze star. He worked at Norton Company in Worcester for 35 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Church, the Greendale Retired Men’s Club, a Director of the Rutland Fife & Drum Corps, a coach in the Rutland Little League program and a Boy Scout leader. During his retirement he travelled with his wife, Marion, in their RV. He enjoyed spending winters in Mesa, Arizona where he made many new friends.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marion V. (Hodgkins) Kozminski; two sons, Steven J. Kozminski of Rutland, Kenneth G. Kozminski and his wife Pamela of Hubardston; a daughter, Karen D. Bickford and her husband Terry of Millbury; 3 grandchildren, Amanda M. Shaulis, Joseph T. Kozminski and Timothy L. Bickford; 3 great-grandchildren, Anthony, Lily, and Jeffrey Shaulis. He was predeceased by his sister, JoAnn Lewis.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 23rd, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. The funeral will be held on Friday, June 24th, from the funeral home with a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Patrick’s Church, 258 Main St., Rutland. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society , 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
