Subscription Update Obituary

    Joseph T. "Papa Joe" Obert, 66, of Worcester, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, February 2, 2011 in his home.

    He leaves his wife of 48 years, Pauline L. (Brown) Obert; two sons: Joseph T. Obert, Jr. and Christopher J. Obert and his wife Patricia, all of Worcester; his daughter, Julie Anne Leite and her husband Scott of Worcester; his sister, Patricia Petro of Worcester and three other sisters: Deborah, Susan and Kimberly; three brothers: Earl, Dwight and James; eight grandchildren; three great grandsons; and many nephews and nieces.

    Mr. Obert was born in Worcester, the son of Joseph Barber and Anna (Obert) Booth. He grew up in Auburn and attended Auburn High School. Mr. Obert was a carpenter for 20 years in the City of Worcester, retiring in 2009. He was a member of the Teamsters Union, Local #170 and the Worcester Bass Masters. Mr. Obert loved cooking and fishing. His biggest joy in life was making other people happy and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

    The funeral is Monday, February 7th from O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 11:00 AM in St. Peter's Church, 931 Main Street. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Sunday, February 6th from 1:00 until 4:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association , 20 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701 or to the American Diabetes Association , 330 Congress Street, Boston, MA 02210.
