Subscription Update Obituary

     Joseph A. Magerowski, 89, of Worcester, passed away Wednesday, December 3, 2014 in his home with his loving family at his side. He is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Bernadette G. (Lambert). He also leaves a daughter, Diane F. Newman and her husband Ralph of Worcester; three sons, Richard J. Magerowski and his wife Maria of North Grafton, Joseph T. Magerowski and his wife Amy of Holbrook and Thadeus Magerowski; a sister Wanda Berestin of Worcester, seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by brothers John and Thadeus Magerowski and four sisters, Stella Fournier, Sophie Kuczka, Jane O’Brien and Helen Norris. Joseph was born in Worcester, a son of John and Frances (Szlachetka) Magerowski.

Mr. Magerowski worked for the City of Worcester Building Department as a building code inspector for forty years prior to his retirement in 1993. He officially retired in July 1978 after 25 years of service then was asked to return. He stayed for an additional 15 years. He served in the US Navy during World War II as a third class gunner mate. He was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church. Joseph’s interests were his family especially his grandchildren. With his ability as a carpenter, he was always there to help. A deck by Joe was appreciated by many. He was a longtime treasurer of the Tom Ash-Babe Ruth leagues.

The family would like to thank the Notre Dame Hospice for their support and care provided to Joseph during his illness.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 from HENRY – DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St., with a Mass at 11:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward St. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours in the funeral home will be on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Notre Dame Hospice, 557 Plantation St. Worcester, MA 01605.
