Subscription Update Obituary

     John S. Russell Jr., 79, of Worcester, died on Tuesday, February 4th in UMass Memorial Medical Center – Memorial Campus.

     Mr. Russell is survived by his wife, Joyce M. (Noel) Russell; 5 sons, John and William of Worcester, Andrew of Atkinson, NH, Stephen of Worcester and Christopher of Grafton; a daughter, Lynn Zukowsky of Grafton; 6 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. John was born in Worcester, son of the late John S. Russell Sr. and Dora A. (Desautelle) Russell and is also predeceased by a son, Brian Russell who died in October 2013 and a sister, Beverly Partridge.

     John is a graduate of Worcester Boys Trade and served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He worked for over 25 years at General Motors and was a proud member of the United Auto Workers Association.

     Mr. Russell was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church and the Knights of Columbus Alhambra Council #88. John was a longtime volunteer at the Ty Cobb Little League and Babe Ruth and once served as President of the league. He enjoyed all local sports, however, he had a great love for both the Red Sox and the Patriots.

     The funeral will be held on Tuesday, February 11th from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. with a Mass at 11 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church 1222 Main Street. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are in the funeral home from 4 to 7 PM on Monday, February 10th. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association 20 Speen Street Framingham, MA 01701.
