Subscription Update Obituary

      John Hagberth Hansen, age 77, passed away on December 12, 2017. He was born in Worcester to Henry and Elsa (Johnson) Hansen. John was educated in the Worcester schools, graduated from North High School and attended Worcester Junior College. John was active in the Army, serving during peace time in both Korea and Germany as well as in the Massachusetts National Guard. He worked at Norton Company and ran Hansen’s Repair Service. He was a Mason. He was an active member at Wesley United Methodist Church for most of his life including youth basketball, youth group, and United Methodist Men.

John is survived by his children, John Hansen and his wife, Alyssa (LeBlanc) of Rutland and Julie Hansen-Conn and her husband, Brian Conn of Fort Collins, CO; his former wife, Janice England; and his three grandchildren, Delaney and Brenna Hansen and Henry Conn. He also leaves his sister, Carolyn Amaral (Paul Naez), sister-in-law, Grace Hansen; numerous nephews; special niece, Susan; as well as his loyal friend, Dick. He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Elsa Hansen; brother, Henry Hansen; sister, Dorothy (Hansen) Opacki; brothers-in-law, John Opacki and Robert Amaral; as well as his special friend, Elaine Russell Dunn.

John had a passion and knack for anything automotive and saved many a stranded motorist. He enjoyed watching and going to the races and local car shows. He enjoyed going for coffee with the guys and was known to talk to anyone who would listen. He had a big heart and touched many lives.

He will be forever remembered, loved and missed by his family and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on January 16, 2018 at 1p.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church,114 Main St, Worcester, MA 01608. Private burial will be held at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wesley United Methodist Church. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
