Subscription Update Obituary

   John H. Collins, 89, passed away Wednesday, July 23 at UMass Memorial Healthcare.

   He leaves his wife of 60 years, Irene D. (Turcotte) Collins; four children: John F. Collins of Worcester, Sheila M. and her husband, Andrew Murray of Pocasset, Katherine M. and her husband, John Silk of Worcester and Patricia M. and her husband, John Pasquale of Shrewsbury; his sister, Connie Capstick of Worcester; his grandchildren: John Silk, Megan Hart, Erika Francese, Matthew McQuade, Shauna Gendron, Nikki Pasquale, Michelle Pasquale, Kelly Collins, Kristen Pasquale and Johnny Collins; his great grandchildren: Hannah, Emmah, Joseph, and Brockton; and many nieces and nephews.

   He was born in Lowell, the son of Frederick and Katherine (Needham) Collins and graduated from South High School. John served in the Army during WW II where he was awarded 2 Purple Hearts. He worked as a service engineer at the former George Meyer Co. in W. Boylston before retiring. John was a member of Christ the King Church and Alhambra Knights of Columbus Council #88.

   The funeral will be held on Saturday, July 26 from CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St. with a Mass at 10:00 AM at Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant St. Interment will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Visiting hours will be on Friday, July 25 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Catholic Charities, 10 Hammond St., Worcester, MA 01610.
