Subscription Update Obituary

John F. Cassavant, 83, of Spencer, died Sunday, May 24th. at UMASS Medical Center in Worcester.His wife of 52 years, Theresa Y. (Gaudette) Cassavant died in 2020. He leaves his daughters; Dianna J. Caffarena and her husband Pablo of Spencer and Debra A. Anderson and her husband Scott of Tolland, CT., his brother; Andrew Cassavant and his wife Rose of Spencer, his sister; Leona Lacroix of Spencer, three grandchildren; Nicolas Caffarena of Spencer, Mackenzie and Elisabeth Anderson of Tolland, several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by brothers; Ernest, Edmond and Stephen Cassavant and a sister; Elaine Potvin.John worked for Mass. D.O. T. in Sturbridge and Worcester for 30 years, retiring in 2009.

He was born in Spencer, the son of Andrew and Florence (McDonald) Cassavant and later served his country with the US Army in Vietnam where he was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Gaudette-Kirk American Legion Post 138 in Spencer. He was proud and honored to serve his country. He grew up on a farm and valued all that continued to contribute to farming in America. He proudly drove through town with his vintage John Deere tractor. He was generous to all.

Funeral services for John will be held on Friday, May 29th at 10 a.m. in the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. in the funeral home.
