In October 1951, at Asante New Town O.I. 79 (Ash-Town) in Kumasi, a gem was born to Mr. Joseph Annobil (deceased) from Anomabu but domiciled at Nkenkensu and Madam Mary Oteng popularly called Afia Adwubi (deceased) of Adukrom royal family in Kumasi. He was named John Annobil and also known as Kweku Ampem. John’s parents were industrious business people who made name in their areas of trade.

John was the second born of her mother’s two children. The two siblings lived together in harmony until his demise.

Mr. Annobil went to Nkenkensu primary school at Nkenkensu and State Boys elementary School in Kumasi. He furthered his education at Kumasi High School (KUHIS) to do his secondary education. John was baptized and confirmed in the Wesley Methodist Society, now Wesley Cathedral, Adum-Kumasi. He was an active member of the Wesley branch of the Methodist Youth Fellowship (MYF).

John worked with Water and Sewerage Company in Ghana as an employee until in the heat of the revolution in the early 1980s when he had to travel to Germany to make ends meet. After years in Germany, John relocated to United Kingdom (UK) and finally settled in the United States of America (USA). John lived in New York, Rhode Island, and Worcester, MA. Whiles in Worcester, John was a brother, a father, and uncle to all. He was well respected within the Ghanaian community, and an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Worcester, MA.

As the scripture says, “it’s not good for a man to be alone…” The Lord opened a matrimonial door for John and joined him with Florence. Their union was blessed with five children.

John Annobil was a pleasant person to live with. He was very hardworking and a dedicated person who won and retained the highest regard of all. His willingness to serve manifested in his participation in a number of family activities. With that said, John help a lot through marriage counseling, serve as a mediator through difficult times, help people to find jobs, and help others to find partners. Indeed, John impacted a lot of people in the Ghanaian community in Worcester, MA.

In the extended family, he was a pillar of support. He took good care of his parents before they were called home. John also assisted many members of his extended family in diverse ways to make ends meet.

Indeed we are convinced and hereby declare according to 2 Timothy 4: 7 and 8, that you have fought a good fight, you have finished your course, you have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for you a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge shall give you on that day, and not to you only, but to us all who love his appearing.

Visiting Hours will be held Friday, March 26th from 5:00 until 8:00 pm at Callahan, Fay & Caswell Life Celebration Home, 61 Myrtle Street, Worcester.

Mr. Annobil’s Funeral Service will be held Saturday, March 27th from 8:00am until 10:15am at the Wesley United Methodist Church, 114 Main Street, Worcester.
Entombment at Worcester County Memorial Park will follow immediately.
