Subscription Update Obituary
     Joan Sousa, 78, a longtime resident of Spencer, died peacefully Tuesday, June 7th, surrounded by her loving family, she was born on November 29, 1937, She was preceded in death by her father Robert Warpula and mother Winifred (McGrail) Warpula. Her husband of 55 years Manuel “Manny” Sousa, passed away in October of 2013.

She is survived by two sons, Mark L. Sousa of Wales, William of Massachusetts, and three daughters, Theresa M. Doresky of Spencer, Marie and James Futardo of New Braintree, Darlene Polinski and Kenneth Silva; two brothers, Robert Warpula of Leominster, and Gerald Warpula of Rutland; 14 grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Joan successfully co-owned and operated Manny’s Kitchen in Worcester, MA. Joan loved to play bingo and loved to vacation at the beach with her Family! Family always came first. She will be greatly missed by many.

Family, friends, and others whose lives Joan touched are invited to MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester on Sunday, June 12th at 2 pm – 4pm. Her funeral service will be celebrated on Monday, June 13th at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow to Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton where she will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband.
