Jessie (Horne) Johnson, 95, formerly of Holden, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at Arden Courts in Bingham Farms, MI. She was born and raised in Worcester, the daughter of the late James A. and Annie G. (Galloway) Horne.

Jessie attended North High School and worked for over forty years at Norton Company, first in the cafeteria and then as an order clerk, retiring at the age of 71. A woman of strong Christian faith, she was a longtime member of Greendale People’s Church in Worcester, and it’s Proto Club. She was also a member of the Stella Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. Jessie was a devoted matriarch and enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking and recounting stories of growing up and raising her family in Greendale.

Her beloved husband of 57 years, Arthur R. Johnson, died in 1994. She was also predeceased by her daughter, Margaret N. (Peggy) Slattery in 2012. She will be lovingly missed by her daughter, Nancy A. Arciniegas and her husband, Dr. Eduardo, of West Bloomfield, MI; her four grandchildren, David Arciniegas and his wife, Laura, Scott Arciniegas, Suzanne Guthart, and Nancy Hurley; six great-grandchildren, including Monica Hurley of Worcester; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 21, at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel of the Greendale People’s Church, 25 Francis Street, Worcester. The family will receive guests from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be private in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Greendale People’s Church, 25 Francis Street, Worcester, MA 01606.
