Subscription Update Obituary

James R. Generelli, Jr., 82 of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 4, 2021, at UMass Medical Center.

James was born in Worcester, a son of the late James R. and Minnie (Giordano) Generelli, Sr., where he graduated from Worcester Vocational High School and has lived here all his life. James was the owner and operator of Main & King Mini Mart and Gino’s Pizzeria for many years. James was a member of the former Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. He loved the New England Patriots, the Boston Red Sox, horse racing and roulette.

James is survived by his ten children, James R. Generelli, III of Worcester, Kathleen Brigham and her husband Steven of West Boylston, Patricia Quitadamo and her husband Gary of Rochdale, Maureen Dupre and her husband Philip of Worcester, Michael Smith and his wife Maureen of Hiram, ME., Gina Orlando and her husband Rob of San Francisco, Jeffrey Generelli and his wife Gayla of Henderson, NV., Juleen Jones of Greensboro, NC., Carol Fors and her husband Anthony of Cape Coral, FL. and Gino Generelli of Chicago; four brothers, John S., Edward, Robert and Thomas Generelli all of Worcester; two sisters, Margaret Amaral of North Grafton and Maryann Jakaitis of Worcester; eleven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his beloved cat, “Minnie.” Besides his parents, he is predeceased by a sister, Jane M. Generelli.

James’ family would like to thank his home health aide Penny from Aveanna Services for taking such good care of their dad in his time of need.

A period of calling hours for James will be held on Friday, June 11, 2021 from 8:30-10:30 am followed by his funeral service at 10:30 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
