James “Red” Graham, 92, a resident of Kingston since 2001, died Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at his home.

Born in Banbridge, County Down, Northern Ireland, son of the late James and Sarah (McCreedy) Graham, he worked as a young man in Birmingham, England at the British Small Arms Co. and endured nightly bombing raids by the German Luftwaffe.  He came to the United States in 1948 and settled in Worcester, MA, where he attended Worcester Boys Trade School and was trained as a carpenter.  He was employed for many years as a machinist at Rexnord Co. of Worcester.

A resident of Grafton, Massachusetts from 1957 until moving to Kingston, he was a former member of the Grafton Congregational Church, and also a member and past president of the Orangemen’s Lodge of Boston. He was presently a member of the Newton Junction Baptist Church.

Music was a large part of Mr. Graham’s life, whether it was playing the guitar and singing in the pubs of Northern Ireland as a young man, or as a member of his church choirs in his later years.

An avid gardener, Mr. Graham enjoyed tending his vegetable and rose gardens, and his apple, peach and grape orchards.

Predeceased by his loving wife Miriam O. (Graham) Graham in 2014, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by a son and daughter-in-law, James and Deborah Graham of Grafton, MA, daughters and sons-in-law, Diane L. and Ken Reed of Lynchburg, VA, Cindy L. and Russell Army of Kingston, NH, Sally G. and Steve Woodward of Wakefield, NH, and Gladys Amanda and Rob Towne of Kingston, also sixteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and several   nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Reginald and Norman and a sister Margaret.

Relatives and friends may call on Monday, February 6, 2017 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH. His funeral will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Newton Junction Baptist Church, followed by burial in the Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton, Massachusetts. The family requests that memorial donations be made to Rockingham VNA and Hospice, 137 Epping Road, Exeter, NH.
