James B. Deignan, 92, of Worcester, died Saturday, September 25, 2021 at St. Vincent Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
His wife of 58 years, Elizabeth A. (Shea) Deignan, died February 21, 2018. His daughter Kathleen A. Thomas passed away March 8, 2018.
He leaves a daughter Karen M. Blackney and her husband Bryan of Westborough; four grandchildren, Bethany Bousquet and her husband Rick, Danielle Thomas, and Ryan and Kevin Blackney; five great-grandchildren, Abagale Flynn, Nicole Bousquet, Avery Oquendo, Lillian Bousquet and Isabelle Thomas; a niece and two nephews. He also considered his neighbors Michael and Kathy Gour as part of his family.
His brother Joseph Deignan died in 2017 and his sister Elizabeth Casillo died in 2002.
Jim was born in Leicester, son of James M. and Elizabeth (McConville) Deignan, and lived most of his life in Worcester.
Jim attended South High School, Clark University and the New England School of Accounting.
He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War.
Jim spent most of his career as a salesman in the office furniture and supplies field. He worked many years for the former G.E. Stimpson Co. in Worcester and later retired from Staples.
Jim was a member of the Main South American Legion Post. He was a member of the Greendale Retired Men’s Club and participated in many club trips in the Northeast. He especially enjoyed visits to Amish Country in Pennsylvania.
While serving in the Navy, Jim boxed; and he continued to be a lifelong fan of the sport. He also enjoyed golfing, bowling, and billiards; and was a Red Sox fan.
There will be a calling hour Wednesday, Sept. 29, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home at 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
