Subscription Update Obituary

James A. Monroe, 78 of Worcester, passed away on Sunday, July 10th at Umass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus.

His wife and best friend of 52 years, Gail (Robinson) Monroe, died in March.

He leaves an aunt, Beatrice Power; niece, Lauren Chapman; niece and godchild, Jennifer LeBlanc; nephew and godchild, Nicholas Robinson; extended family, friends, and a godchild Jessica Sutkus. He also leaves his two cats which he loved, Mindy and Cindy.

Jim was born and raised in Worcester to the late Russell and Helen (Hetel) Monroe. He is United States Navy Veteran who served during the Vietnam War. Jim happily owned his own business, J & G Sales with his wife, Gail. He also worked as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service up until his retirement. Jim was a member of the Worcester/Auburn Elks Club as well as the USS Davis DD937 Association. He loved to spend time with his cats, golfing, and trips down to Cape Cod.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 19th from 10:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue followed by a graveside service at 11:00 a.m. in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Ave, Paxton.
