James A. Guenette, 39, of Cocoa, FL and formerly of Worcester, died unexpectedly in his home on Saturday, April 28th.

James was born in Heidelberg, Germany, while his father was serving in the United States Army. He moved to Worcester with his parents where he spent his entire childhood. James attended and graduated from South High Community School in 1997 where he was the quarterback for the football team as well as a pitcher and second baseman for the baseball team. Upon graduating from high school James attended Worcester State College.

He had a love for sports and played baseball with the Ty Cobb Little League and later went on to play for the Main South American Legion Post #341 baseball team. James loved the New England Patriots and even named his beloved dog, Patriot. He had many conversations with his family and friends about the New England sports teams and his sports wisdom will be greatly missed.

Mr. Guenette graduated from the United States Park Police Academy in Glynco, Georgia as an officer in 2003 and worked for 10 years with the Federal Park Police stationed in San Francisco until he had to retire in 2012 due to an injury. He was current living in Cocoa, FL and working as a realtor with Larocque and Company.

James is survived by his father and stepmother, Arthur and Terry Guenette of Millbury, MA; his mother and step father, Denise (Dumont) Andros and Steve Andros of Port St. John, FL; a brother, Brian Guenette; many aunts, uncles and cousins. He is predeceased by his maternal grandparents, James and Elizabeth Dumont and his paternal grandparents, Jean and Kathleen Guenette.

A funeral will be held on Monday, May 7th from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. Worcester, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church 1222 Main St. Worcester. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, May 6th from 4 to 7 PM in the funeral home. The family requests that either flowers be sent for calling hours or memorial contributions in memory of James may be made to the Worcester Animal Rescue League 139 Holden Street Worcester, MA 01606.
