Subscription Update Obituary

     Herbert H. Burtt, 87, of 144 White Birch St., died Saturday, August 6, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family, after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 67 years, Ruth A. (Allen) Burtt; a son, Gregory A. Burtt and his wife Theresa J. “Terry” of Leicester; three daughters, Sheila R. Barlow and her husband Ed C. of Leicester, Lorraine A. Lyon and her husband Barry F. of Leicester, Diann L. Hale and her husband Charles E. “Chuck” of Rutland; a sister, Flora Leontie of Milford; 11 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The youngest of sixteen brothers and sisters, he is pre-deceased by 15.

Born in Monticello, ME he was the son of William & Alma (Jones) Burtt and has lived here for 59 years.

Mr. Burtt graduated from Houlton High School in Houlton, ME. He served his country in the Army during the Korean War.

He was superintendent of maintenance at State Mutual Life Insurance in Worcester for 35 years, retiring in 1988.

He was a long time member of Oak Hill Bible Church in Oxford. An avid outdoors man, he enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and snowmobiling. Most of all he loved spending time with his loving family especially his grandchildren. He was a very generous heartfelt man and loved to laugh.

The family would like send a special Thank You to the staff from the Jewish Healthcare/Hospice for all their care and help.

A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, August 11 at 10:30 A.M. in the Oak Hill Bible Church, 40 Sacarrappa Rd., Oxford. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4-6 P.M. in the MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St. Leicester. Those attending the Service on Thursday are asked to go directly to the Church. Please omit flowers, contributions may be made to either the Oak Hill Bible Church, c/o General Fund, 40 Sacarrappa Rd., Oxford, MA, 01540 or to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 220 No. Main St., # 104, Natick, MA, 01760.
