Subscription Update Obituary

     Herbert C. Christenson, 92, died on Sunday, April 10, 2016. He was predeceased by his wife, Phyllis (Briere) Christenson in 1993 and his siblings Richard H. Christianson, Ellen V. Johnson, and Mildred M. Lindberg. He is survived by his two children, Laurie Christenson of Worcester and Cheryl Lynn Johnson of Leominster as well as many nephews, nieces, grandnephews, and grandnieces. Herby was born in Millbury, son of Swedish immigrants, Hulda M. (Barnis) and Agnar Christenson. He served in the Army during WWII and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a medic and received commendation for staying behind enemy lines to care for the wounded. Mr. Christenson was a carpenter and worked at City Builder’s Supply Company and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Herby was a Civil War buff and enjoyed yard work and listening to country music.

The Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of Trinity Lutheran Church, 73 Lancaster Street on Wednesday, April 13, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association , 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472. Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street is directing arrangements.
