Hazel “Sunny” (Leard) Simpson. On March 6, in the dawning of a beautiful day, Sunny Simpson was called home. Sunny touched many people with her open and loving way. She was loved by many. She was nicknamed Sunny when she was a student in elementary school because of her “sunny” disposition. She remained true to her nickname her entire life. She loved to share a laugh, a kind word, a comical story, and a warm hug. She loved children and enjoyed spending time with them. She was a loving grandmother; her love of ice cream and crazy antics will live on in their memories forever.

Sunny was the daughter of Addison and Alice (Dupuis) Leard. She was predeceased by her husband Bobby Simpson, sister Marian Desrosiers, and her niece Suzanne Phelan. Sunny is survived by her son Michael Houghton and his wife Peggy of Bourne; son Scott Houghton and wife Pam of Sutton, daughter Kim Snediker and husband John of North Grafton, and son Todd Simpson and wife Dawn of Sterling, MA. Sunny was “Grammy” to ten grandchildren and multiple neighborhood children; she adored them all. She will be missed by; Christopher, Deeanna, Jason, Lindsey, Eric, Jamiee, Jonathan, Taylor, Alisha, and Jordan.

Sunny had a love for flowers and worked at the Whipple House for many years. Additionally, she was a dedicated stay at home mom who took great pride in her family. Sunny lived in Worcester, Westborough, and Sutton. In her later years, she was a resident of Christopher House. Her nurturing spirit remained through her later years and she could often be found lending a hand to other residents of Christopher House.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. A memorial service will be held at the Federated Church of Charlton on Saturday, March 10th @ 3:00 PM.
