Subscription Update Obituary

     Gretchen C. (Stolnacke) Cummings, 96, passed away peacefully at St. Mary’s Healthcare on Wednesday, October 15, 2014. Gretchen was born in Worcester, daughter of the late David Stolnack and Agnes W. (Gullsby) Stolbom. Her husband of 57 years, Edwin B. Cummings, died in 1998. She leaves three daughters, Patricia A. Cummings, Karen L. Short, and Linda G. Cummings; two grandchildren, Christina K. Short and Kevin D. Short and his partner Karen Riley; and a great-granddaughter, Emerson Riley Short. She was predeceased by her sister Grace Iris Gaskin and brother Ina Stolnacke. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Among the many things Gretchen enjoyed were baking, crafting, and gardening.

Her family extends their thanks to all at St. Mary’s Healthcare, especially the 5th Floor Nursing Staff, for their compassionate care of Gretchen.

Calling hours will be held at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Sunday, October 19 from 4-6pm. A funeral service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 73 Lancaster Street, Monday, October 20 at 11am. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the “Endowment Fund” at Trinity Lutheran Church, 73 Lancaster Street, Worcester, MA 01609.
