Gerald P. “Gerry” Chartier, age 73, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at UMass Medical Center – University Campus in Worcester. Born in Southbridge, he was the son of the late Henry and Theresa (Hebert) Chartier.

Gerry grew up in Sturbridge and graduated from Tantasqua Regional High School with the class of 1970. He went on to serve his country honorably with the United States Marines. After his military service, he worked for many years as a welder and inspector at CPC Engineering in Sturbridge. In his spare time, Gerry could be found taking long walks admiring all the nature around him.

He is survived and will be lovingly missed by his wife of 30 years, Martha (Grundstrom) Chartier; a son, Paul Shea and his wife, Carolyn of Cherry Valley; 2 brothers, Marc and Michael Chartier, both of Sturbridge; 2 sisters, Suzanne Chartier of Sturbridge, Barbara Renaud and her husband, Richard of Southbridge; 3 grandchildren, Patrick, Catherine and James; 2 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his brother, David Chartier, and his sister, Diane Boudreau.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service at 11:00 am on Monday, April 27, at Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Ave., Paxton. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden.
