George F. Burton, Jr. 60, a lifelong Worcester resident was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 16, 2023.  “I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry” psalm 40:1.

George was born in Worcester, the son of George F. Burton, Sr. and Rosemarie A. (Cursi) Burton.   Raised here, he graduated from Worcester Vocational Technical High School.  George always marched to the beat of his own drum, living life with many passions.  Music was a mainstay for him with U2/Bono being his consistent favorite.  George loved gardening, which he learned from his dad and later developed into a business; “Gardening by George”.  He always enjoyed summers with his family at Nantasket Beach.  Later George fell in love with Gloucester, MA where he spent several summers.  His perfect day was cruising around Gloucester Harbor on his boat and mingling with the locals.  George had an easy laugh, inquisitive mind, and always made his presence known.  He loved his family and all the family traditions.   We will miss you, Georgie!

George is survived by four sisters,  Sharon R. Boucher and her husband Brad, Cathy A. DiPilato and her husband Anthony J. DiPilato, Jr. all of Worcester, Lisa M. Robinson of Brookfield, and Laurie J. Black of Sutton: several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.  In addition to his parents, two nieces, Ceara M. Robinson, and Kayla R. Black predeceased him.

Funeral services and burial in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton will be held privately.  Memorial contributions in his name can be made to the St Jude Childrens research hospital, 501 St Jude way, Memphis.  The MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St is honored to assist the family with arrangements.
