Fumie (Hosoya) Grady, 83, passed away peacefully at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester after a brief illness. Born and raised in Yokosuka, Japan, Fumie was the daughter of Katsumi and Shizuko Hosoya and lived in Holden the last 47 years.

Her adored husband of 53 years, Robert Grady died in 2011. She will be affectionately remembered and missed by her son, Robert M. Grady and his wife, Judy of Webster; grandson, Richard Grady of Webster, and other relatives in Japan.

Fumie met her husband Bob in Japan while he was serving with the U.S. Air Force. They soon married and moved to Texas, Washington, Labrador, Canada, and Montana before settling in Holden. Fumie worked as a seamstress at The Slovin Company in Worcester for over 10 years. Over the last several years, Fumie enjoyed taking the Holden senior van to St. Vincent Hospital where she would walk the atrium. She simply enjoyed being a loving wife and mother and will be remembered for her kind and gentle nature.

A graveside service honoring Fumie’s life will be held privately at Worcester County Memorial Park where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to Veteran’s Inc, 69 Grove St., Worcester, MA 01605. Funeral arrangements are under the direction and care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden.
