Frederick M. “Fred” Quercio, 81 of Harwich, formerly of Worcester, passed away surrounded by the ones he loved on Wednesday, March 8, 2023. He was welcomed into heaven by the “Love of his Life” for over 60 years, his wife Sandra J. Quercio who passed away on October 27, 2019.

Fred was born in Worcester, one of four children to Italian immigrants Michael and Amelia (Ciccarelli) Quercio.  Raised and educated in Worcester, Fred married Sandra J. Loomer on October 25, 1959, and spent the next 60 years devoted to one another raising their family with love, music and faith in Worcester, Fort Lauderdale, FL. and Harwich until Sandra left his side.

Fred was musically gifted and an accomplished pianist, who began his early years as a musician with the bands the Phaetons and the Mark V, notably at one point playing as the opening act for the Rolling Stones. He later settled in Worcester, and began his career in Construction for the Laborers Union, working most years with Masiello Construction prior to retiring in 1997.

Fred was a member of the International Laborers Union of North American Local 243, and a founding member of the Our Lady of Loreto Music Ministry. He was also a lifelong member of both the Knights of Columbus and the East Side Improvement Club. An accomplished musician who found great joy in playing the piano, he passed his passion along to his children and grandchildren, several of whom have found the same peace in their music. Fred’s happiest days were spent traveling with Sandra, and in the company of his friends and family on Cape Cod, where he settled in 2014.

Fred is survived by his three children, Lisa M. Gough and her husband John of Harwich, Mark J. Quercio and his wife Lisa of Douglas and Jason F. Quercio and his fiancé Julie Anzalone of Framingham; seven grandchildren, Joseph, Sarah, Danny, Emma, Elizabeth, Andrew, and Olivia; two great grandchildren, Lucas and Lana; three siblings; many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours on Monday, March 13th from 4 pm to 7 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester.  His funeral service and burial in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton will be held privately.   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name can be made to: Cape Abilities Inc, 895 Mary Dunn Rd, Hyannis, Ma. 02601.
