Evelyn R. Jordan, 89, passed away peacefully on June 14th at the Knollwood Nursing Center after a period of declining health. Born in Worcester MA, she was the daughter of the late Sarah Brown and Ambrose Brown.

Evelyn was predeceased recently by her husband of 67 years, Gilbert A. Jordan. She is survived by her two daughters: Pamela Fuess of Green Acres FL, Patricia Smith and her husband Brian of Charlton MA, her grandchildren: Jennifer Thomas and her husband Kevin of Sturbridge MA, Jackie Phelps of Charlton MA, Nicole Tzvetkov and her husband Evgeni of Shirley, Robert Sikorski and his wife Erin of Sterling MA and Caitlin Smith of Worcester MA, her great grandchildren, Jordan, Grace, Cameron, Finn, Eli and Mia. Evelyn was predeceased by her brother William Brown and her sister Florence Worcester.

Evelyn upon graduating from South High School went on to become a Registered Nurse after successfully completing the nursing program at Hahnemann Nursing School in Worcester. Throughout Evelyn’s nursing career she truly enjoyed helping those in long term care facilities. During her nursing career she worked at the Salisbury Nursing Home, Lincoln Nursing Home, and the Knollwood Nursing Home. Evelyn completed her nursing career retiring from the Shrewsbury Nursing Home.

Evelyn enjoyed gardening but most importantly she enjoyed being a home maker for her family. Upon the death of her father Ambrose Brown, Evelyn invited her mother Sarah Brown to move in with her family. For many years Evelyn was the care giver for her mother a role that was very important to her. She was truly happiest when all her family would gather for special occasions and holidays.

An active member of All Saints Church Worcester Ma, Evelyn in her younger years was a member of the Altar Guild, in addition she and her husband Gilbert would provide pastoral care and transportation to All Saints Church members for those in need.

There will be no calling hours. At the convenience of the family a private Mass will be held at All Saints Church followed by a private burial. In lieu of flowers, you may honor Evelyn’s memory with a contribution to the All Saints Episcopal Church, 10 Irving Street, Worcester, MA.
