Subscription Update Obituary

     Esther M. (Anderson) Werme, 94, of Briarwood, formerly of Holden, passed away August 31, 2016 at UMass Memorial Healthcare – University Campus. She was the widow of Carl P. Werme to whom she was married 65 years. She leaves a son and daughter-in-law, C. Douglas and Lorna Werme of NY; five grandchildren, Jennifer Copp (David) of NY, Gregory Perednia (Elisa) of HI, Christine Werme of NY, Richard Perednia (Molly) of HI, and Daniel Perednia of MA as well as many nephews, nieces, and extended family. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Joyce M. Werme and Lori J. Werme; and her four siblings.

Born and raised in Worcester, Esther was one of five children of Swedish immigrants, Anna L. (Johnson) and Carl D. Anderson. She was a graduate of Commerce High School of Worcester and went on to earn a Certificate in Hairdressing. She worked for many years as a hairdresser. She was an active member of the Bethlehem Covenant Church for many years.

Esther enjoyed using her creativity in cooking, arts and crafts. She loved and enjoyed spending time with her family during holiday gatherings in her home. She leaves her much loved family many happy memories.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Sept.10, 2016. A private graveside service under the direction of Nordgren Memorial Chapel will be held for the family at Worcester County Memorial Park. All are welcome to attend the Memorial Service at 11:30 a.m. at Bethlehem Covenant Church, 46 Greenwood Street, Worcester MA 01607. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the “Memorial Fund” of the church.
