Subscription Update Obituary

     Ernest E. King, 62, of Worcester, passed away on Monday, September 30, 2013, in his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Ernie is survived by his loving wife of thirty-nine years, Mary (Donahue) King; a brother, Thomas J. King of Southbridge; two sisters, Lori A. King of Worcester and Florence A. Dupuis of Leicester; two God-Daughters, Laura Perron and Katherine Remillard; two sisters in law, Sheila Riendeau and her husband Roger of Tiverton, RI and Katee Shepard of Tiverton; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Theresa M. King and his step-mother, Philomena (Defilippo) King. He was born in Worcester, son of the late Thomas King and Gertrude (Keith) Corricelli. Ernie served his nation proudly in the United States Marine Corps.

Ernie worked for TJX/Newton Buying Company in Worcester for many years and had previously worked for Toys R Us. He was a member of Our Lady of Providence Church formerly Saint Bernard’s in Worcester and was a member of the church Knights of Columbus Council. He was a member of the 341 Club, The Main South Post, and enjoyed The Patriots, car racing, flying model planes and working on cars. He was a regular participant in the American Cancer Society ‘s ” Relay For Life “, and had the honor of lighting the Main Candle for the illumination of the luminaries this year. Above all, he was a wonderful friend and great husband.

Calling hours for Ernie will be held on Thursday, October 3 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. His Funeral will be held Friday, October 4, from the funeral home with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Providence Church, 228 Lincoln Street, Worcester. Interment will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to The Relay For Life -Worcester in care of The American Cancer Society , 44 Bearfoot Road, Suite 1C, Northborough, MA 01532 or to Overlook Hospice, 88 Masonic Home Road, Charlton, MA 01507.
