Elliott Lee Russell, “Russ”, 82, of Gardner, Mass passed away on April 18, 2021, with his family by his side in Odd Fellows Home, Worcester, MA after a courageous battle with bone cancer.

He leaves his wife of sixty years, Donna (Ferland) Russell; a son, Kevin Russell and his wife Sherry of Uxbridge: two daughters, Lisa Nalewski and her husband Richard of Westminster and Laurie Flannery and her husband Francis of Westminster; a brother Stephen Russell and his wife Beverly of Seekonk; a sister Monica Brunetta and her husband Frederick of Oxford; six grandchildren and nephews and nieces.

Elliott was born in Worcester on June 27, 1938, a son of the late Monica (Giles) Russell and George Francis Russell.

Elliott lived in Southbridge until junior high when his family moved to Worcester. He attended Worcester Boys’ Trade School, where he learned the skill of cabinet making. He and his wife Donna raised their family in the city, then moved to Gardner in 2004. He was a retail manager, known as “Russ” in the Worcester area for several supermarkets, including Price Right Supermarket, and later, at Holden Discount Liquors, retiring in 2005.

Elliott’s greatest joy was spending time with his family. He was an accomplished cabinet maker and crafted fine woodworking projects in his leisure time. A member of the Gardner Horseshoe Club, he enjoyed this hobby as well. He and Donna traveled and spent many enjoyable vacations in Aruba. He enjoyed watching his grandkids play sports and perform at concerts. Many happy times were spent at family cookouts and on vacation with his kids and grandkids.

The family wishes to thank those who provided wonderful care to Elliott during his illness: his oncologist, Dr. Tasneem Ali and his nurses, especially Kelly Gosselin, at the Simonds-Sinon Regional Cancer Center in Fitchburg; the entire staff at Odd Fellows Home, where he spent his last few months, and Trinity Hospice. Special thanks to Lisa Trudell.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, April 26, 2021 from 5-7PM in The Westminster Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Homes, 123 Main St. Westminster. His funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, April 27 at 10AM in Annunciation Parish, Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St. Gardner. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Flowers may be sent, or memorial contributions may be made to The Odd Fellows Home, 104 Randolph Rd., Worcester, MA 01606 or The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS.org).
