Elizabeth (McManus) Garofoli, 83, of Hudson, formerly of Shrewsbury passed away Saturday, October 25th 2014 with her devoted family gathered at her bedside.
Predeceased by her beloved husband of 53 years, John Garofoli in 2009, Elizabeth is survived by her devoted four children, Marco J. Garofoli and his wife Marcia of Stuart, FL, Maryann DeCiero and her husband, Francis of Hudson, Edward Garofoli and wife Tonya of Barre, Betsy Cullen and her husband, Robert of Worcester. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren, Christopher, Sheila, Sarah, Michael, Jamie, Daniel, Rachel, Patrick, Alicia, and 7 great-grandchildren, Jackson, Matthew, Sienna, Scarlet, Andrew, Grayson and Nicolette; her younger sister, Paula Palmer of Sterling, many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Besides her husband, Elizabeth was pre deceased by a granddaughter, Samantha, two brothers, Edward and John and two sisters, Anna and Alice.
She was born in Worcester, MA; her parents were the late John and Anna (Maciejowski) McManus. She graduated from Saint Peter’s High School in 1950 and worked as a telephone operator for New England Telephone until she became a stay home Mom to care for her children. Elizabeth later worked for Dimitria Delights in Shrewsbury making pastries. She retired and enjoyed vacationing with her husband, being with her children and especially her grandchildren.
Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours Thursday, October 30th from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Her funeral will be held Friday, October 31st from the funeral home with a Mass at 10:00 am in Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St. Burial next to her husband will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton.
The family would like to especially thank the nursing staff on the Burncoat Unit of Parson’s Hill and Hospice services of Western and Central Ma for their outstanding care and support to both Elizabeth and the family at this difficult time.
