Eleanor “Ellie” June (LeFort) Cronin, 94, of York Beach, Maine, died peacefully in her home December 1, 2023. Born in Worcester, MA to the late Augustus and Emma LeFort, Ellie grew up with her siblings, Stanley, Raymond, Barbara, Roy and Ruthie in Vernon Hill.  She attended Commerce High School.

In 1946, Ellie married Gerald J. Cronin, Sr. and in 1950 they purchased their first home in Worcester. As their family grew, they moved to Northboro in 1971 to raise their seven children. During her early married life, Ellie stayed at home to care for her family. During this time, she formed life long friendships with many families from Northboro.

Ellie worked as a cashier at Julio’s Supermarket. She enjoyed talking with her customers and being part of the community.  In 1980, she began working at Data General in Marlborough in various roles until her retirement.  Upon retirement, Ellie and Gerry moved to York Beach, Maine, a place where they had vacationed for many summers. While in Maine, Ellie became a passionate member of St. Christopher’s Church, volunteered as a Eucharistic minister, and performed in the Church’s “Passion of the Christ” play for over 20 years. She made many friendships through St. Christopher’s and during the years she lived in York Beach.

Ellie is survived by four of her children; David Cronin (Brenda), Staten Island, NY; Maureen Carter, Milford, MA;  Steven Cronin (Heather), Watertown CT; and Kathleen Marcello (Peter), Shrewsbury, MA . Ellie also leaves her 14 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, daughter in-law Carol Cronin and many friends. Ellie is predeceased by her husband, Gerry, her daughters, Ellen Gallagher and Colleen Butkowicz and her son, Gerald Cronin, Jr.

Family and friends will Celebrate her life at Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home on Thursday, December 7, 2023 with a time of visitation from 10:00-11:30 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Christopher’s Church, 4 Barrell Lane in York, Maine at Noon.
