Edwin Nieves-Nieves, 70, of New Britain, CT formerly of Worcester, died on Monday, April 8th in the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain. He leaves his loving wife, Zenaida (Valentin) Nieves of Worcester; seven sons, Edwin E. Nieves and his wife, Tara of Florida, Christian J. Nieves Valentin and his wife, Brianna of Spencer, Jean Carlos Nieves Valentin of Worcester, Edwin M. Nieves of Branford, CT, Juan J. Nieves of New Haven, CT, Efrain Nieves of Meriden, CT, and Alfredo Nieves of New Britain, CT; a daughter-in-law, Monica Redmond of Worcester; two brothers, Generoso Nieves and Henry Nieves of Florida; a sister, Evelyn Nieves of Southington, CT; 23 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a son, Edgard Nieves in 2015.

He was born in Rio Pedras, Puerto Rico the son of Generoso and Josefina (Nieves) Nieves. Edwin embraced life with an unwavering dedication to his family and country. As a proud veteran, he served in the United States Army as a Sergeant, embodying the values of honor, courage, and commitment. His sacrifices and bravery exemplified his profound love for his country. Beyond his service, he was a devoted family man whose love knew no bounds. He cherished every moment spent with his beloved wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, creating cherished memories that will be forever treasured. His kindness, wisdom, and unwavering support were the cornerstones of his family’s strength. Music was a passion that resonated deeply within Edwin’s soul. His taste in music and infectious enthusiasm brought harmony to those around him, leaving an indelible mark on all who shared in his love for music. Edwin’s sense of humor was as boundless as his love. With a quick wit and infectious laughter, he could light up any room and bring smiles to the faces of all who knew him. His playful spirit and jovial demeanor were a testament to his zest for life and his ability to find joy in every moment. He also enjoyed eating and trying various foods. As we mourn the loss of Edwin, let us also celebrate the remarkable life he lived. His legacy of love, service, and laughter will continue to inspire and uplift us in the days ahead. Though he may no longer walk among us, his spirit will forever dwell in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.

His calling hours will be held on Monday, April 15th from 9:30am until 10:30am in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. His Funeral Mass will be on Monday, April 15th at 11:00am in St. Joan of Arc Parish, 570 Lincoln Street. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue, Paxton.
