Edward William Keenan, 64, of Worcester, passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at the UMass-Memorial Medical Center, University Campus.

Eddie was the faithful son of Eleanor Theresa (Monahan) Keenan of Northboro and Worcester, and the late Edward Thomas Keenan, and devoted brother to Deborah Keenan Meade of Plymouth and Martha Abigail Keenan of Worcester with whom he shared his home.

He is also survived by cousins, Patricia Montimurro of Northboro, Maureen Corapi of Shrewsbury, David and Paul Keenan of Scarborough, Maine, and Richard Keenan of East Weymouth. He also leaves behind his childhood friend Tom Brown who was his daily coffee companion and fellow avid card player.

He was predeceased by aunts and uncles in both Worcester and Hartford, Ct.

Eddie graduated from South High School and from Boys Trade School’s apprentice electrician program with the intention to pursue his paternal grandfather’s profession.

Eddie began his work career at Wright Line Co., and continued at John Bath Co. He has worked for Saint Gobain (formerly Norton Company) for 27 years at its Greendale location.

Eddie loved sports and followed the Boston sports teams closely. He was an avid fan of sports radio. He purchased three newspapers daily to keep current with sporting events and team activities.

Eddie loved the outdoors and he took great pride in maintaining his family yard. He was meticulous about cutting the grass in the summer, clearing leaves in the fall and moving snow in the winter. He always appreciated a hard winter with heavy snowfall.

The family wishes to thank the UMass-Memorial University Campus Cardiac ICU and Neurology teams for their outstanding and compassionate care, as well as the first response team at Saint Gobain.

There will be calling hours Monday, February 29, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester. Funeral services with burial in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton, will be private.
