Edward J. Gouin, 90, died Wednesday, March 11, 2015, at the Life Care Center of Auburn. He is survived by two children, John E. Gouin and his wife Susan of Rutland, and Alice A. Sanchez of Freeport, FL; six grandchildren, Erin and Lauren Gouin, Jimmy, David, and Shane Hiersche, and Rodney Richards; and several great grandchildren, nephews, and nieces. He was predeceased by three brothers, Joseph A. Gouin of Charlton who died in 1999, Frank C. Gouin of Charlton who died in 2000, and Henry A. Gouin of Charlton who died in 1990; and four sisters, Marie LeBlond of Spencer who died in 1998, Anna C. Langlois of Charlton who died in 2001, Octavia A. Donahue who died in 1998, and Albina Surprise who died in 1991. He was born in Charlton, the son of the late Joseph C. and Albina (Prunier) Gouin, and lived most of his life in Charlton. He graduated from Charlton High School in 1941. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Gouin worked at Pratt and Whitney in East Hartford, CT, for 20 years, retiring in 1977. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Charlton. Mr. Gouin was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 391 in Charlton and the V.F.W. He was very active with the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, serving as Cub Master and Scout Master. He was a fan of basketball, football, and baseball.
A funeral will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2015, from Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, 10 H. Putnam Rd. Ext., Charlton. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. Calling hours are Friday, March 13, 2015, from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
