Subscription Update Obituary

     Edward D. Jason, III, 54, of Malden Dr., died peacefully on Thursday, November 1, 2012 at UMass Memorial Health Care-University Campus, Worcester, after a brief illness. Born and raised in Worcester, he was the son of Edward D. and Gertrude (Hughes) Jason, Jr. and lived 13 years in Webster.
     Ed attended North High School in Worcester and worked at Schott Fiber Optics in Southbridge. He previously worked at Best Rest Mattress Co. in Worcester. He attended Bethel Lutheran Church in Auburn.
     He was known for his gentle and kind nature, and was a devoted and loving husband, father, son and uncle. His interests included bowling, watching New England sports and vacationing in Nova Scotia.
     Ed is survived by his wife of 17 years, Christine M. (Aulenback) Jason; two daughters – the joys of his life, Ashley L. and Rebecca C. Jason, both at home; his mother, Gertrude (Hughes) Jason of Webster; a niece, Sharon Johnson and her husband David of Bristol, CT; a nephew, Stephen Zukowski, Jr. of Leicester; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Sandra (Reed) and Wallace Aulenback of Brookfield. A sister, Shirley Zukowski, died in 2010.
     Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 7, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 8, at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. The family has requested in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Edward D. Jason III Children’s Fund, c/o Spencer Savings Bank, 93 Main St., Rutland, MA 01543.
