Subscription Update Obituary

     Edith K. (Smith) Searles, 77, died Monday, April 30, 2018, at Shrewsbury Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Ralph W. Searles of Auburn; two daughters, Melissa D. Hannon and her husband James, and Kathryn D. Courteau and her husband Paul, all of Auburn; her brother, Russell H. Smith and his wife Linda of Spencer; six grandchildren, Bethany McIntosh, Eric Hannon, Erin Hannon, Patrick Hannon, Thomas Arnold, and Nicholas Arnold; one great-grandson, Dimitri McIntosh; and several nephews and nieces. She was born in Vinalhaven, ME, daughter of the late Theron and Harriet F. (Hopkins) Smith, and lived in Worcester before moving to Auburn in 1956.

Mrs. Searles was a crossing guard for Auburn Public Schools for many years before retirement. She enjoyed bowling and enjoyed socializing with anyone she met. She loved children including all those the assisted as a crossing guard in Auburn, and most of all enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 4, 2018, at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. Calling hours are Thursday, May 3, 2018, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
