Dorothy K. (Sarsfield) Astrella, 88, of Worcester, passed away on Saturday, July 5, 2014, in Saint Vincent Hospital. Her husband, Trin J. Astrella, Sr., predeceased her on April 24, 2005.

Dorothy is survived by her loving children, two daughters, Carol A.(Astrella) Bulikowski and her husband John of Worcester and Gail Dorothy Astrella of Worcester; a son, Trin J. Astrella, Jr. and his wife Andrea of Sutton; seven grandchildren, Amanda, Angela, Alysa, Trin III, Marina, Leslie and Gregory; four great grandchildren, Landon, Jaxon, Sophia and Owen; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother and a sister, William “Mickey” Sarsfield and Helen Bazinet. Dorothy was born in Worcester, daughter of the late, Dennis W. and Ida M. (Beauregard) Sarsfield. She graduated from Commerce High School.

Dorothy and her husband raised their family in Worcester for many years, before moving to Orlando, Florida in July, 1984. Together, they spent many wonderful years enjoying the Florida lifestyle, before deciding to return to Worcester in July 2003. Dorothy enjoyed raising her family, but also found time to work in the business offices of Sunderland Wonder Markets. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel-Saint Ann Church.

The Astrella family would like to offer a heartfelt thank you to the team of caregivers at Saint Vincent Hospital, Christopher House and Metro West VNA and Hospice. The care and love that was received is appreciated and cherished by the family. All of the “angels” involved in her care made Dorothy and her family feel loved and at ease.

Calling Hours for Dorothy will be held on Wednesday, July 9, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNRERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Her Funeral will be held on Thursday, July 10, from the funeral home with a Mass at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel-Saint Ann Church, 24 Mulberry Street, Worcester. Interment beside her husband at Worcester County Memorial Park, will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 Saint Jude Way, Memphis, TN 38105.
