Subscription Update Obituary

     Dorothy E. (Walsh) Gentile passed away peacefully, on Sunday, November 15, 2015.

Dot was born March 28, 1922 to the late John P. and Catherine M. (Sullivan) Walsh. Dot graduated from Ascension High School, attended Framingham State College and graduated from St. Vincent’s School of Nursing as a registered nurse in 1944. Upon graduation she served as an ensign in the Navy and was assigned to Chelsea and Cushing Hospitals. She retired from Worcester City Hospital.

Dot is survived by her three sons, Joseph P. Gentile, Michael E. and his wife Christina Gentile, and Peter J. and his wife Patricia A. Gentile; her nine grandchildren, Jeffrey and his wife Michelle, and Kerry and Caitlyn Gentile; Brian and his wife Sarah Gentile and Brianna Gentile; Daniel and his wife Tracey Gentile, Erica and her husband Paul Machado, and Elizabeth and Marykate Gentile; eight great-grandchildren her sister, Sister Catherine Marie Walsh RSM, and her many nieces and nephews.

Dot was predeceased by her husband Joseph A. Gentile; two infants, Maryellen and Patrick; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Charles and Maryellen Flynn, Daniel and Kathleen Foley, Patricia Walsh, and Ernie and Eileen Pelletier; and her brother, John P. Walsh.

Dot was devoted to her husband, her children and especially to her grandchildren as she took care of all of them in a special way. Tooly-ooly Nana.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Holden Rehab and Nursing facility for the care, comfort and attention she received during her stay.

Calling hours are Thursday, November 19, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester. The funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. in Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant St., Worcester. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
