Denise A. (Gubber) Prue, 70, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 10 after a long illness, surrounded by the love of her family in UMASS Medical Center. She was a devoted wife, a loving sister, a caring mother, and a proud grandmother who cherished every moment spent with her family.
Her husband of 38 years, David E. Prue, Sr. died in 2016. She leaves three children, David E. Prue, Jr. of Webster, Mary Hastings and her husband, Chris of Auburn and Timothy Prue and his wife, Katie of Worcester; six grandchildren, Mikayla and Megan Prue, Bryden and Emma Hastings, Lacey and Dylan Prue; three siblings, David Gubber of Pennsylvania, Dianna M. Gubber-Markley and her husband, Herbert of Princeton and Doreen E. Gubber of Millbury and nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Dean and Daniel Gubber predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Richard and Edith M. (Williams) Gubber. She graduated from Doherty Memorial High School class of ’75.
Denise dedicated many years of her life as an Animal Care Technician at the University of Massachusetts, where her compassion and strong work ethic were evident to all who worked alongside her. After retiring, Denise continued to stay active and connected to her community by working at Shaw’s Supermarket.
In her free time, Denise enjoyed playing Keno and loved her scratch tickets, small pleasures that brought her happiness and excitement. Denise will be remembered for her kindness, resilience, and the quiet strength she showed throughout her life.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but her memory will live on forever in the hearts of her family and friends.
Visiting Hours are Monday, February 16 from 4 to 7pm at Callahan Fay Caswell Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St. The Funeral will be held Tuesday, February 17 at 10am in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main St. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org
