Deborah Ann Chase, 60, of Dudley, Massachusetts passed away Sunday, November 11, 2012. Her loving husband of 42 years, Thomas Chase was at her side.
Debbie was the daughter of Lois and Jack Scott, and the predeceased Armand Messier. She is also survived by her sons, Andrew Chase, Michael Chase; her daughter and son-in-law, Kristy and Tommy Sheehan, and their children, Joshua and Kyle. Debbie’s surviving siblings are, David Bennett, Donna Bracken and Lisa Rogers.
Debbie was born October 17, 1952 in Worcester, Massachusetts. She grew to become a beautiful young woman and after marrying on Dec. 12, 1970, she and Tom began a family. While raising her young children in the 1970’s, she fought for early childhood education, in a time that people did not see that as necessary, she stood and spoke before committees to make kindergarten the mandatory first year of schooling. She was a wonderful mother who always made birthdays and other occasions special, especially the time she took to make beautiful cakes. Tom and Debbie had a love of antiques and shared many hours together traveling and collecting. The family moved to Dudley in 1982. Debbie began a long career in loss prevention. During this time she spent many hours enjoying crafting with her daughter in her spare time. This led to her becoming a successful full time crafter and began her business, Whimsies’ from the Attic. She had crafts in many shops and even more shows, she loved what she did and it showed in her product, which reflected an antiqued look. The only thing Debbie loved as much as her family was animals. The view from her windows had many birdhouses and feeders. She had many pets in her lifetime of all kinds and they were treated as family, this love for animals was passed on to her children. Debbie also loved her flower gardens; she planted through many years and the blooms are beautiful in the front yard.
Debbie was a proud grandmother, who loved to spoil her grandchildren from the moment they were born. During her life Debbie enjoyed many years of camping with her husband, children and grandchildren. She loved Maine and the ocean. She enjoyed trips on the Saco River and she especially loved the trips to Cape Cod with her sister-in-law Bonnie and her brother-in-law Steve B.F. Clark. Debbie was known for her sense of humor. She always knew how to make you laugh and her laughter was contagious. She was always one for a practical joke, and if you were the lucky recipient of one you knew she loved you. This is just one of the many wonderful things about her that will be greatly missed.
A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m, Thursday November 15, 2012, at Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Ave., Paxton, MA, immediately followed by a Celebration of Debbie’s life at J. Anthony’s Restaurant, 206 Southbridge Rd., N. Oxford. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure fund. Paradis Funeral Home in Oxford is assisting with arrangements.
