Subscription Update Obituary

Dawn C. (Mattson) Williston, 76, passed away on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at Rose Monahan Hospice after an illness. She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Russell A. and Christine M. (Southgate) Mattson and lived in Worcester before moving to Holden 46 years ago.

Her beloved husband of 39 years, William H. Williston, passed away in 2016. She leaves her sons, Russell W. Williston and his wife, Sara of Lancaster and Andrew D. Williston and his wife, Sarah of Somerville; her grandchildren, Adele, Harper, and Henry; her brother, Russell Mattson and his wife, Nancy; and her nephews.

Dawn graduated from South High School, Worcester State College, and Barrington College in Rhode Island. She was a devoted early childhood educator for the Wachusett Schools, retiring in 2012. Previously, she was an underwriter’s assistant for an insurance company. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Holden. In her leisure she enjoyed reading, gardening, and sewing.

A private committal service will be held at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Worcester County Food Bank, 474 Boston Tpke., Shrewsbury, MA 01545. Arrangements are under the care of the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden.
