Subscription Update Obituary

     David A. Dunkerton, 72, of Auburn died Sunday December 14, 2014 in the Vibra Hospital in Rochdale after a brief illness.

He leaves his wife of 49 years, Karen A. (Fuess) Dunkerton, their children; Marcia L. Thompson and her husband James of New Bern, NC, and Lorne W. Dunkerton and his wife Barbara of Charlton, loving grandchildren; Christian A. and Lillian J. Dunkerton both of Charlton, and Cortney Thompson of Whitinsville, and Jonathan Thompson of New Bern, NC, three sisters; Carol Dunkerton of Oxford, Lorna Girouard of Worcester, and Martha Skamarock and her husband David, of Oxford, as well as several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his three brothers; Lorne A., George C., and Robert J. Dunkerton.

He was born in Worcester. David is the son of the late Lorne A. and Clara L. (McKinstry) Dunkerton. He is a graduate of Auburn High School and served as a Seebee in the US Navy.

David was a heavy equipment operator for over 30 years, working for several area construction companies prior to retiring.

Mr. Dunkerton was a keyboardist for several area local bands and enjoyed baseball, softball and bowling leagues. He especially enjoyed his impromptu horseshoe league at his home on weekends with family and friends. He spent his winters at his home in Florida in Port Charlotte, where he enjoyed Red Sox Spring Training games and golfing. He was proud of the 2 hole-in-ones he recorded at the Bluffs and Hillcrest country clubs.

He was a member of the VFW, the American Legion and the Elks.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend David’s funeral service which will be held on Wednesday December 17, 2014 at 10 AM in the First Congregational Church of Auburn, 128 Central Street, Auburn. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park.
