Constance “Nunnie” V. (St. Martin) Nelson, 87, passed away April 28, 2015 at Knollwood Nursing Center after a period of declining heath. She went into the loving arms of the Lord, after visiting with all of her family and many friends. Connie will always be remembered for her sense of humor, kindness, and her never ending generosity — as her children and grandchildren will attest. Those who knew Connie loved her, and thankfully many had the opportunity to tell her before she passed.

She is predeceased by her husbands, William Russell in 1962 and Linwood Nelson in 1983. She leaves behind her three daughters, Lynda Kilgore and husband Dan of Millbury; Mary Castro and husband Samuel of Sturbridge; Sandra Pepper and Walter Parzych of Worcester; a predeceased daughter, Sharon Nelson; also surviving are five grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; three step-sisters, Cynthia Clark and Charlene White of Oxford, and Pat Walsh of AZ, nieces and nephews. Nunnie is predeceased by two brothers, two other step-sisters, and her grandson, Joseph Pepper Jr. She was the daughter of Henry and Anna (Bonardi) St. Martin and was a lifelong resident of Worcester. Mrs. Nelson worked as a waitress for many years at the former Charles Restaurant, Wexford House, the Franklin Manor, Wachusett Country Club and Leicester Country Club. She attended St. Stephen’s Church and was an avid golfer and bingo player, and enjoyed shopping.

The family would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Summit Healthcare for all their professional help over the past few years. In addition, a very special thank you is in order for the entire staff of the Knollwood Nursing center at all levels from the laundry and kitchen workers, through all the medical and attendant staff, and on up to management. They have demonstrated professional work, love, and caring throughout Connie’s time with them.

Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours Thursday, April 30, 2015 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester.

Her funeral will be held Friday May 1st, from the funeral home with a procession to St. Stephen’s Church, 357 Grafton St. where her Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances in her name can be made to the Knollwood Nursing Center Activity Fund, 87 Briarwood Circle, Worcester, MA 01606, or to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, NY 10018.
